Congratulations to all the finalists and winners at the SA Dairy Awards in September, in particular our Board member Michael Connor who won the Brenton Higgins Memorial Trophy for exceptional service to the dairy industry.

It was also great to see three farmers being recognised for their quality business practices through the South Australian Dairyfarmers Association Awards, with Sam Martin winning Best Young Farmer, Perrin Hicks wining Best Relationship with a Processor and Jake Connor winning Most Innovative Farmer.

In the product awards, trophies were won by Beston Pure Dairies, Saputo Australia, Milawa Cheese Company, Woodside Cheese Wrights, The Yoghurt Shop, Fleurieu Milk Company and 48 Flavours. The Chief Judge Trophy was won by the Fleurieu Milk Company with its Pouring Cream.

Gina Dal Santo, Chief Judge for 2022, said there were 267 product entries this year.

“We saw an increase in yoghurt and ice cream entries but unfortunately a large decline in cheese. In the cheese space we saw an increase in entries in the flavoured cheese section, and it was interesting to see such a vast array of flavours,” Gina said.

“Our fresh classes proved to be of high quality. It is such a pleasure to taste fresh product such as milk and cream with such vibrancy and freshness.”
