The Educating Kids About Agriculture Program (EKAAP), driven by Primary Producers SA, is a three-year project that aims to engage primary school students from across the state in agriculture related topics and career opportunities.

During Term One this year, the EKAAP had a particular focus on the dairy industry with students learning about what dairy cows eat, how they are milked, how the milk is processed, quality assurance checks along the way and some of the nutritional aspects of dairy products.

Ashleigh Pulford from South Australian Dairyfarmers Association (SADA) has been working with schools to teach students about antibiotic testing in milk samples, buffalo farming, ice cream making and much more.

“Over the rest of the school year, we’ll be looking at engaging with more schools and dairy businesses across the state, as well as rolling out additional programs in high schools,” Ashleigh said.

“It’s all about showing students there are career pathways in the dairy industry, to provide the next generation of dairy professionals in South Australia.”

If you or your business would like to be involved with the program please contact Ashleigh on ashleigh@sada.asn.au or the SADA office on 08 8293 2399 or email sada@sada.asn.au.
