Dairysafe Food Safety Audit results are trending positively for 2025. At the beginning of May, 106 audits have been performed across South Australian dairy farms, transporters and processors.
Audit data confirms increased industry compliance from the same period in 2024. Dairysafe have also investigated 7 events involving notifiable contaminants and 3 complaints during this period.
From the audits completed:
80 farm audits have been completed year to date, resulting in no Corrective Action Requests being raised, illustrating the high overall standards maintained at SA dairy farms.
Routine food safety audits for unconditionally registered export dairy processing establishments are being completed by Dairysafe as per the Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry.
22 processor audits have been completed year to date, resulting in 4 major Corrective Action Requests being raised across 3 businesses, for elements including HACCP, Good Hygienic Practices, and Temperature monitoring and Storage.
4 milk transport companies have been audited without any Corrective Action Requests being raised.
Overall, food safety standards in the SA dairy sector remain considerably high, with no reported instances of pathogens in dairy products at retail level, no presence of antibiotic residue in finished dairy goods, and no critical non-conformances identified.
Year to date audit data validates industry awareness of the importance of constant surveillance and the need for continuous improvement.
