Technology and changes to agriculture, including dairy farming, are occurring rapidly. An upside is this is attracting young farmers back to the land.

Dairysafe reviewed some of the activities and sessions conducted at the 2024 Digital Agrifood Summit Conference (DAS24), held at Charles Sturt University Wagga Wagga.

The program was intended to introduce innovative technologies to boost farm productivity, profitability and sustainability

Under the theme ‘Future-Fit Farming’, DAS24 tackled decarbonisation and electrification, how Australian producers can verify our sustainability credentials on the global stage, and the approach that should be adopted when it comes to artificial intelligence in agriculture.

Speakers included Microsoft ANZ Chief Technology Officer Sarah Carney, Pecora Group founder Cressida Cains, Agscent’s Daniela Carnovale and AI and Cyber Futures Institute Executive Director Gana Pogrebna. A session introduced the farm office of the future, and emerging technology and data platforms that will change the life of a farmer over the next decade. It also included paddock-level forecasting, animal welfare and asset management, data collection, integration and traceability.
