Congratulations to all the businesses audited in the January to March quarter, who represented the dairy food producing industry to a high standard.

Dairysafe Auditor Fiona Little reported all businesses were found to be of a good housekeeping standard with only a few minor issues associated with hygiene identified.

“It was pleasing to see that all businesses were operating a Food Safety Plan and generally had well developed Standard Operating Procedures,” Fiona said.

The most common non-conformances identified during the past quarter included:

  • Incomplete annual review of the Food Safety Plans;
  • Gaps in the calibration records for equipment; and
  • Lack of final product testing.

Three areas that Dairysafe will focus on during the pending 2018 audits include:

  • Final product testing as per microbiological guidelines;
  • Record keeping; and
  • Establishment and adherence to Environmental Monitoring Plans.

“The areas identified form the foundation of a robust Food Safety Plan and will assist in protecting our dairy industry through the reduction of food safety incidents,” said Dairysafe CEO Brian Owens.
