PIRSA’s latest Drought Support Update outlines the measures in place for farmers, including dairy operations, facing ongoing drought conditions. These initiatives aim to protect your business, your community, and your wellbeing.
While parts of South Australia have seen some rainfall, many regions continue to grapple with drought conditions and their ongoing impact. Despite the short-term relief, the full impact of drought often lingers, financially, emotionally and operationally.
For dairy farmers, dry seasons impact feed supply, water availability, herd management costs and business risk.
What’s available: key support programs
Wellbeing and mental health support
A new campaign, Weather it Together, has launched across regional SA, promoting four simple actions: Keep Connected, Focus on What You Can Control, Get Active and Ask for Help.
Alongside this, there is the broader drought-wellbeing support under PIRSA’s Drought Support page.
Infrastructure, practical and financial support
The Drought Support Package includes infrastructure grants and rebates to help on-farm operations manage current and future drought impacts. Check eligibility for your dairy business, for water storage, feed infrastructure or other resilience assets.
