Dairysafe is farewelling a highly respected contributor to South Australia’s food safety sector, Derene Szczerba, who has commenced a new role with SA Health.
Derene joined Dairysafe in November 2020 as Senior Food Standards Officer, bringing a strong background in regulatory compliance and food safety following several years at PIRSA’s Biosecurity SA.
From the outset, she was a valued and trusted member of the Dairysafe team, applying her deep technical knowledge with a calm, professional and solutions-focused approach.
Derene was widely respected across industry for both her expertise and her unwavering commitment to supporting dairy businesses. She had a genuine passion for educating operators in food safety, best practice and continuous improvement, particularly new entrants navigating accreditation for the first time.
In 2025, Derene accepted the position of Project Officer for Food Safety at SA Health. While this is an exciting opportunity for her, she will be greatly missed by both the Dairysafe team and the broader South Australian dairy sector.
