Dairysafe would like to pay tribute to Craig Heard, who has taken up another opportunity after six years at Dairysafe.

Craig’s food industry experience started as a young lad in his family’s butcher shop in regional SA. His passion for food safety and quality continued, and he worked in food regulation across red meat, eggs and bivalve molluscs sectors. In 2019, Craig made the leap into dairy regulation.

In the time Craig spent with Dairysafe, he worked tirelessly to support farmers and processors, strengthen food safety, and foster innovation within the dairy industry in South Australia.

Key achievements during his tenure include:

  • Development and implementation of an Electronic Auditing Quality Management System.
  • The development of Dairysafe Guidelines for the Safe Manufacture of Dairy Products.
  • Delivering Industry training modules and webinars.
  • Achieving and maintaining ISO 9001:2015 certification for Dairysafe Quality Management System.
  • Building and leading a South Australian auditing team, ensuring a consistent, collaborative and supportive approach to industry.

“Craig’s dedication to the dairy industry and collaborative approach to regulation is evident in the fact that he is a well-respected and trusted resource to industry as well as a highly valued team member of Dairysafe,” said Mel Jackson, CEO of Dairysafe.

“His departure is a great loss to Dairysafe and the dairy industry, however new and emerging opportunities are ahead for Craig. Undoubtedly, his professionalism and dedication will see him succeed in any future endeavours.
