Several important export updates have recently been released for dairy exporters. South Australian dairy exporters are encouraged to stay up to date with recent developments affecting export certification, importing country requirements and market access arrangements.

European Union – new antimicrobial declaration

From 30 August 2026, updated EU milk and milk product health certificates include a new animal health attestation confirming that dairy animals have not been administered antimicrobial medicines for growth promotion, yield enhancement, or antimicrobials reserved for treating certain human infections. The new certification requirements support the EU’s prohibition on the use of antimicrobials for growth promotion in animals entering the EU supply chain from 3 September 2026.

Malaysia – additional requirements for products containing dairy ingredients

Exporters of non-prescribed goods containing dairy ingredients should be aware of revised import requirements from Malaysia. Depending on the product classification, exporters may need to ensure products are sourced from an export-registered establishment, that the manufacturing site is listed with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Malaysia, obtain a valid Request for Export (REX), and provide an official health certificate. Operators should work closely with their importers to confirm applicable requirements.

Indonesia – Halal Law commencing October 2026

Indonesia’s Halal Law will come into force for food and beverage products on 18 October 2026. The legislation introduces expanded halal certification requirements and may affect labelling, transport and export certification arrangements. Businesses exporting dairy products to Indonesia should continue preparations to ensure compliance before the commencement date.

New Micor platform now live

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has launched the updated Manual of Importing Country Requirements (Micor) platform. While the website address remains unchanged, exporters are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new interface and continue using Micor as the primary source of export market requirements.

For the latest market access information, visit the Micor website and monitor DAFF Market Access Advice notices.

Stay informed

Export requirements can change quickly, and exporters are encouraged to regularly review Micor and subscribe to relevant updates to ensure they remain compliant with importing country requirements.
