A Memorandum of Understanding is in place between Dairysafe and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) regarding the regulatory oversight of export-registered dairy processors in South Australia, which Dairysafe is responsible for.
Due to Dairysafe’s organisational changes and operational constraints as we onboard new team members, DAFF is supporting Dairysafe in the short to medium term by taking back responsibility for audits of export-registered facilities in SA.
DAFF will provide support and training to the Dairysafe audit team, ensuring they are ready to take back the export audit responsibilities when appropriate.
While this variation is in place:
- Export Audits will be led by DAFF and Dairysafe will support where appropriate.
- Variations (significant changes) to current approved arrangements will be managed by DAFF, taking the lead on the assessment and approval process.
- Food safety incidents involving export-accredited processors will be jointly investigated by both Dairysafe and DAFF to ensure that processes are followed, and effective corrective action on both product and systems is managed to meet both domestic and export requirements.
- Domestic audits will be undertaken by Dairysafe as per the standard process.

Importing Country Requirements (Micor) changes

Turkiye (TR)
02/01/2026: From 1 January 2026, Türkiye requires all export-registered establishments that manufacture milk and milk products for human consumption for export to Türkiye to be listed and approved to import by Türkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. This requirement is in addition to export registration with the Department.
Indonesia
06/01/2026: Updated information on payment for desktop review of new listings applications (sections 1.2 and 1.4). Indonesia’s Director General of Livestock Services and Animal Health Services (DGLAHS) maintains a list of Australian dairy establishments approved to export to Indonesia. However, this list of approved establishments is not publicly available. Establishments can contact the Department at dairyeggsfish@aff.gov.au to confirm if they are currently approved to export milk and milk products to Indonesia. Dairy manufacturing establishments must be listed with DGLAHS in order to export to Indonesia. The process to become an approved dairy export registered establishment on the DGLAHS list is documented on the Micor website and has been updated to now include a requirement to pay a fee for a desktop review.
