Dairysafe has welcomed a new Board, bringing extensive experience across agriculture, dairy, food safety, regulation and governance to help guide the organisation through its next chapter.
The new three-member Board comprises Chair Sharon Starick, continuing Board Member George Kamencak and new Board Member Corrie Goodwin.
Sharon brings extensive experience across farming, natural resource management, research and development, biosecurity, industry policy, quality assurance and agricultural governance. A South Australian farmer for more than 30 years, she and her husband operate a grain and pork enterprise in the Murray Mallee. Her leadership roles have spanned animal health, grains, pork, agricultural finance, research and natural resource management.
Corrie brings more than 20 years of experience spanning almost every part of the dairy supply chain, from working directly with farmers through to senior roles in milk quality, food safety, sustainability, supply chains, industry advocacy and regulation. Her experience includes seven years with Dairy Food Safety Victoria across two periods, including as Chief Executive Officer, as well as senior commercial dairy roles and extensive agricultural governance experience.
George provides valuable continuity as he begins his third three-year term on the Dairysafe Board. With more than 25 years of experience in competition, consumer and regulatory law, governance, compliance and risk management, George has been a strong advocate for risk-based regulation that protects consumers while supporting dairy businesses to operate safely and successfully.
The new Board will be out and about across South Australia in September, meeting dairy farmers and hearing directly about their businesses, experiences and priorities.
Thank you to Roseanne Healy and Michael Connor
Dairysafe also acknowledges the significant contribution of departing Board members Roseanne Healy and Michael Connor, who have provided many years of dedicated leadership and service to Dairysafe and South Australia’s dairy industry.
Roseanne joined the Dairysafe Board on 1 July 2015 and has served as Chair throughout her 11 years on the Board. During that time, she has helped guide Dairysafe through significant change, supporting the organisation’s evolution as a contemporary food safety regulator and its focus on strong governance, industry engagement and protecting public health.
Michael joined the Board in July 2018, bringing an invaluable dairy farmer perspective to its deliberations. Michael and his family operate Nangkita Dairies across the Fleurieu Peninsula and his practical understanding of dairy farming, food safety and the realities of running a sustainable and profitable farming business has helped ensure the voice of producers remained strongly represented at Board level.
Dairysafe sincerely thanks Roseanne and Michael for their commitment, expertise and contribution to the organisation and the South Australian dairy industry and wishes them both well for the future.
With Sharon, George and Corrie bringing complementary experience from across primary production, dairy, regulation and governance, Dairysafe looks forward to building on that strong foundation and continuing to work closely with farmers and processors across South Australia.
Dairysafe Board appointments are made by the Governor, with the Dairysafe Board consisting of three Members, one of whom is appointed as Chairperson.
